As the summer of 2009 draws to a close, allow me a few minutes to look back at what I did for my summer vacation.

I shuttered this blog a while back so I could concentrate on my main blog. Still, I miss not having a place to collect my musical musings. Therefore, I’m bringing this blog back to life. I’ll be feeding it only my writings on music (no film stuff here).
And if you are reading this, be sure to say “hello”.
As I post so infrequently, this will no longer serve as my primary music blog. I’ll be using my film blog for all my music posts.

First, fuck the Echoplex for 1) mixing the audio so it sounded best by the bar and not at the stage and 2) for having the house right speakers blown.
That said, FR rocked. Intimate, passionate, thrilling was their performance. They were spot on but not just re-producing the album live on stage. They were giving the audience the experience they wanted, something the previous band (called something like “pinto beans”) couldn’t come close to doing. The moment of the show came when Scott stepped past the mic and sang “Poke” to the front row.
It’s a pity these guys won’t be back in LA for another year. Here’s hoping they come back to SXSW in March so I can see them there.
Bravo!
